Our ambition is to undertake a complete regeneration of the currently derelict site by recreating the social aesthetic of the historic White Horse pub in a high quality development which will also provide 104 much needed homes. Our carefully crafted scheme has evolved after taking into consideration widespread consultation with local people.
The thoughtful design reflects the evolving character of the area, with the main height focussed along the High Road. On the corner of St Chads Road will be an 11 storey building, in keeping with the nearby New Enterprise House and Pinnacle buildings. Next to it will be a U-shaped building of 4 and 5 storeys. This will wrap around a landscaped courtyard providing a recreational space for residents.
The new White Horse pub will be located on the ground floor of the corner building. It will have a dedicated outside area and many of its historic details will be included in the new scheme. The mature thriving trees along the boundary with St Chad’s Church and residential properties will be retained
The buildings will be constructed from carefully selected materials, with an emphasis on brick. The warm red colour and multi-bricks with detailing have been chosen to reflect the historic and surrounding context. The red colour reflects the former pergola of the old pub. At ground floor level on the corner building the brickwork will be infilled with an attractive green glazed brick giving a distinctive feeling to the new White Horse pub.
We held a drop-in exhibition on Monday 4th July 2022 at Chadwell Heath Baptist Church, High Road, RM6 6PP, where our experts met local people and discussed our ideas. Our experts are still keen to hear local views and answer questions. You can get in touch by using the Contact Us page on this website.
